Vanta Sweat Series Underwear

Who would have thought that after the first underwear review I did a couple years ago, I would now be considered an expert on the subject. To be honest, it makes sense when I personally invested so much time and energy working out what was best for me. If you’re curious about my motivation for spending a lot of money and endless hours on researching and wear-testing undies, well I have one word for you – chafe. You could probably add sweat into the mix also, as often it was moisture and poor breathability that led to the friction.

Now let’s take a look at what Vanta has to offer. The Sweat Series is their specifically designed product for the active wearer. They are made from moisture-wicking fabric that’s 92% Polyester and 8% Elastine. As with most moisture-wicking materials they’re quick drying and also lightweight. The design allows for easy movement and ample support, with seam placement that means you don’t get rubbing in the groin. The waist band is thick enough to keep them in place, without any excess material that can rub or sit high on your hips. The short version has a 2.5 inch inseam, which is a good length to prevent thigh rubbing but short enough that they’re not visible beneath your running shorts (Unless you’re in some extra-short splitties). The long version is 5 inches and there’s also a brief.

In testing, I found them to be very breathable and comfortable across long runs. However, due to my skinnier than normal legs I got a tiny amount of up-riding when doing speed sessions. But rest assured, I am on the very skinny or chicken legs end of the thigh spectrum. The brief version would be my normal choice for faster running anyway. Aesthetically, they look great. You can see the quality in the manufacture and there are colours and patterns for every taste. The good thing about stylish looking briefs is it makes it more comfortable, and less confronting for others, to get changed in public before or after a run.
