The Dolomiti Skyrun – 136km/11,800m Gain
The Dolomiti Skyrun is a new and fascinating ultra-trail race along the historic Alta Via 1 trail. The track is 136 km long with 11.800 meters of elevation gain and links Braies (BZ) to Belluno. The course traverses spectacular mountain ranges as it passes right through the center of the Unesco World Heritage listed Dolomites.
The route of the Dolomiti Sky Run will mostly be at an average altitude of 2000 metres; the highest point of the track will be after almost 40 km: Lagazuoi shelter (2752 m). Participants will start to warm up in the early afternoon on July 4th in Braies, which is in the Pusteria valley, with the race to start at 6 pm that evening. The promoters of the event expect the leaders to take approximately 20 hours, with a cut-off of 40 hours. In addition, there will be a medley relay run made of 3 participants (male, female or mixed gender).
There will be plenty of unique locations situated along the alpine chain, like the Dolomites of Braies, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Zoldano, and Agardino and Belluno. The course includes an incredible 11 Dolomite massifs and 3 passes!
Enrolment started January 11th and will last until May 31st.
