Australia’s Best Running Events Revealed: Study Identifies the Top Races for Beginners, Experienced and Elite Runners
With marathons, half-marathons and fun runs taking place across Australia every year, choosing the right race can make all the difference to a runner’s experience. From scenic coastal courses to challenging trail routes, each eventvaries in terrain, difficulty, support and atmosphere. To help runners find the most suitable event for their ability level, sports equipment retailer Net World Sports has analysed 75 of Australia’s most prominent races, ranking them based on how their technical, environmental and logistical features align with different levels of running experience. The study assessed events across five key factors: race day conditions, commercial presence and prestige, course difficulty, support and accessibility, and runner sentiment and reviews. Each race was then given an overall score to determine the best events for beginners, experienced runners and elite competitors.

Whether it’s your first half-marathon or your tenth marathon, giving your body the right training, nutrition, and recovery can make all the difference. The goal is not just to finish the race, but to enjoy the experience, prevent injury, and feel strong every step of the way. With a thoughtful approach, you’ll build confidence, improve performance, and cross the finish line feeling proud and energised.”
