2019 Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k Women’s winner Lisa Weightman was delighted with her race.

“My goal was to go as hard as I could. I had some guys and my husband helping me out and I’m so stoked, first time under 32 minutes,” said 2019 Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k women’s winner and course record holder.

“I’m looking forward to the Australian Half Marathon championships next week.”

2019 Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k Men’s winner Lachlan Barber said it was a great race.

“The course was gorgeous. I happened to just get under 30mins and just a second off my PB which was really great,” said Lachlan Barber.

“This is only my second 10k. I knew I had to push it hard to the finish line. I back my kick to the finish line and I didn’t have anyone to chase down so I thought I’d put on a bit of a show and push for under 30mins.”

Greenstone Financial Services CEO, Brenard Grobler, said Real Insurance has proudly sponsored the Sydney Harbour 10k and 5k running events since 2013 and is thrilled to continue bringing this event to Sydneysiders.

“We’re pleased to sponsor the Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k and 5k for the seventh year running. Real Insurance is passionate about protecting the lives of everyday Australians and believe encouraging them to get fit and lead active lifestyles is key to this.”

Ronni Kahn, OzHarvest CEO and Founder ran alongside ambassador Anna Polyviou and hundreds of passionate supporters at today’s event.

“What a stunning morning! I feel so energised after doing the Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 5k/10k with so many OzHarvest supporters.  These events always put the ‘fun’ into fundraising and I’m delighted that we’ll be able to provide nearly 100,000 meals as a result!”

Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k and 5k Event Director Wayne Larden said the event has gone extremely well in clear, sunny conditions.

“The flat and fast course which hugs the Sydney harbour providing stunning views throughout the continues to deliver a terrific experience for both elite and everyday runners. What a fantastic way to get fit and enjoy what is undoubtedly the most spectacular 5k and 10k course in the country,” said Wayne.

Starting at the historic Sydney Rocks, the 10k course was a one lap loop which hugged the harbour foreshore travelling along Hickson Rd, through Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour, Pyrmont, through the stunning Barangaroo parklands and back into The Rocks to the finish line at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay.

The 5K course also took in some of Sydney’s most beautiful sights. The course started at George Street, the Rocks, continued around the edge of Sydney Harbour, under the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge before an out and back section along Hickson Road and back into The Rocks to the finish line at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay.
