The North Face Sponsors Team ANZ
The committee at Skyrunning ANZ are pleased to announce that we have partnered with The North Face and Pace Athletic as sponsors of the team attending the 2016 World Skyrunning Championships to be held in the Spanish Pyrenees in July. It comes at a time when the sport is experiencing huge growth on a domestic and international front and provides the necessary support to enable us to send a strong team to the championships and minimise the costs for the athletes.
Skyrunning president David Byrne is clearly excited by the partnership. “We can’t thank both The North Face and Pace Athletic enough for their ongoing backing. Both companies represent the highest of quality in terms of the products they have and their understanding of the trail and mountain running community. This makes them the ideal sponsors for the team. They clearly see the importance in supporting the growth of the sport in our region and providing opportunities for athletes to chase their dreams.”
David’s thoughts are reciprocated by The North Face Marketing Manager Stephen Winnacott “We are supporting the Sky Running team to support the development of trail running as an emerging sport and activity. For more than 10 years we have been committed to developing trail running in Australia and NZ and focused on bringing to market best-in-class products for trail running athletes. Kitting out the team in uniforms will help to present our athletes professionally on the global stage, and our high performance FlashDry fabrics found in our Better Than Naked apparel will allow our team to perform at the highest level regardless of the conditions.”
The championship will be held at the BUFF Epic Trail, with 4 distances including 105km, 42km, 21km and a Vertical Kilometer. They will take place on July 22-24 in Barruera, Spain. The event is expected to attract the world’s leading Skyrunners and will test them on extremely challenging terrain with varying conditions. The Australian and New Zealand team will be well represented by a mix of experienced and emerging athletes and we are confident of building on the outstanding results of the 2014 championships.
