The TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS is thrilled to announce its renewed partnership with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™, marking the first collaboration since 2019. This exciting partnership offers participants the unique opportunity to challenge themselves and aim for a Guinness World Records title as they take part in Australia’s largest marathon on Sunday, 15 September 2024.
The TCS Sydney Marathon has long been known for its stunning scenery, vibrant atmosphere and Sydney Opera House finish line, attracting runners from around the world. Participants of all fitness levels are encouraged to set their sights on achieving personal and world records, making this year’s marathon not only a test of endurance but also a celebration of extraordinary accomplishments.
“The TCS Sydney Marathon continues to innovate and inspire, and the renewed partnership with Guinness World Records adds an exciting and fun dimension to our 2024 event,” said Wayne Larden, Race Director, Sydney Marathon. “This year’s event promises to be a thrilling showcase as we strive to become the 7th Abbott World Marathon Major on an all new course, as well as offering participants a fantastic opportunity to not only complete a marathon, but make history.”
Runners can attempt a wide range of marathon record titles, either in costume or in an impairments category. Participants might aim for the fastest marathon dressed as a superhero, running backwards, or completing a challenge in a wheelchair. The diverse categories ensure there is something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned athlete looking for a new challenge or just looking to have fun and be part of something extraordinary.
Katie Forde, SVP Brand & Digital at Guinness World Records said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with the TCS Sydney Marathon again in 2024. We believe in offering record-breaking for everyone, everywhere and we’re excited to offer on the day adjudication for all of the applicants who are looking for an additional challenge on race day.”
