Next For Running Wild NSW: Mt Portal

IMAG1219 (1)The next event in the Running Wild NSW series in on September 27th and takes people back to where it all began in 2010 at Mt Portal. It was the first ever race staged for the organization with trail legend Brendan Davies winning and still holding the course record of 1:06:29 for the fast but challenging 17.5km course. The women’s record stands at 1:18:29, set by Jo Brischetto in 2013. Like Brendan, Jo is a Blue Mountains local and regular on the trails in the area.

In 2014 the route changed, cutting out the causeway (Tar road in and out of the park) and now the event only has around 100m of blacktop. The course includes trails that are ‘less used and little seen’ and encompasses some of the best single track in park, running very close to a newly named aboriginal site.

As always Snax on Trax will be there to feed runners, and there’s a free sausage sizzle and can of drink for every competitor.
