Mother’s Day Gift Guide!
Flowers are nice and some new pyjamas will come in handy, though if your mum is a passionate runner, then no doubt she will really appreciate a gift that supports her love of the sport. By all means give her a bunch of marigolds and take her out for breakfast too, but it’s the running related surprise she’ll love the most…although she’ll never admit it 😉
Here are a few ideas from The Long Run team:
Running Shoes: A new pair of running shoes is always a great gift for runners. Make sure to get her size right and consider the type of running she does (road, trail, etc.) when selecting a shoe. For a safe option, check out the ASICS GEL-NIMBUS 25. Voted by global runners as the “world’s most comfortable running shoe”, the soft fit and responsive cushioning is perfect for anyone.
Running Gear: There are many different types of running gear that can make a great gift, such as a hydration pack like the Women’s Zephyr Vest from CamelBak, a running watch like the Coros Apex, or a running belt like the Naked Band.
Massage Ball: A massage ball can be a great gift for runners to help relieve sore muscles after a long run. You can also book mum in for a massage somewhere.
Foam Roller: Similar to a massage ball, a foam roller is a great gift for runners to help them recover and prevent injury. If you get one of these, add a yoga matt or similar so mum is more comfortable on the floor.
Running Books: If your mum enjoys reading, consider gifting her a book about running. “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall and “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running” by Haruki Murakami are both popular choices.
Medal Hanger: If your mum has participated in races, a personalized medal hanger can be a great gift to display her accomplishments. There are all sorts available so search around for something that suits them. Here’s an example of a website that sells a few different sorts.
Eyewear: Having some quality sunglasses makes those hot, sunny days on the road all the more bearable. It’s hard to go past the Oakley Corridor (RRP $219). These are the everyday running essential with a fit designed to reduce bounce and Prizm™ Lens Technology enhancing detail on the roads. The Oakley Actuator (RRP $205) is for the mum who wants style and functionality. The Actuator sunglasses are made for walking, talking, and everything in between.
Gift Card: If you’re not sure what to get your mum, a gift card to a running store or website can allow her to choose her own gift. Wild Earth has an amazing range of gift card options and products available to buy, so we highly recommend them.
Remember, the most important thing is to show your mum that you appreciate her and support her interests. Happy Mother’s Day!
