Entries Open for Surf Coast Century
The Surf Coast Century ultra trail marathon is back for its’ 14th edition on Saturday 13 September 2025 in Anglesea Victoria, with entries now open. The event offers multiple race options with 100km individual and 100km relay teams of two, three, or four runners; and a 50km individual race. Held along the Great Ocean Road region, the feel-good ultra has earned its’ reputation as one of Australia’s premier ultra trail marathons thanks to the welcoming environment for participants and its’ incredibly scenic course.
“The courses’ backdrop is in such a beautiful part of Australia and it really does add to the runners’ overall experience out there,” said Sam Maffett, General Manager at Rapid Ascent.
“It’s the memories being made, the camaraderie on course, and the goals achieved that are a true highlight for all our competitors and supporters,” continued Maffett.
The 2025 edition offers a number of improved features such as an enhanced athlete recovery zone, new start procedure to alleviate congestion, new feel-good ambassador program, well-stocked check points, and amplified recognition for first-time ultra runners. The figure-8 course design takes 100km competitors from Anglesea to Torquay along the beach, returning along the cliff top tracks and hinterland trails to Moggs Creek and Aireys Inlet; before heading back to Anglesea on the Surf Coast Walk trail, via Point Roadknight. Whilst 50km runners will do the first half of the 100km course.

Competitors will journey below towering sea cliffs, along remote beaches and through extensive wildflower hinterland leaving them breathless for the beauty of the area as much as for the exertion of the exercise.
“It’s the ideal place to run your first ultra marathon, or your tenth, with a relatively flat and non-technical course; seven checkpoints evenly spread along the route; and superior support services and competitor care.” said Maffett.
It’s often referred to as a bucket-list event for ultra trail runners, with past participants and previous winners having fond memories of the race;

“The course was so beautiful and stunning with so many different types of terrain! The sand, mud, hills, downhills, ocean views, and the forest sections with all the ferns; it’s all so incredible!” (Holly Ranson, 100km Female Winner 2024)
“All the other runners out on course were so amazing and supportive – cheering me on – it was a beautiful, surreal experience.” (Miah Noble, 50km Female Winner 2024)
