Chris Truscott – Countdown to GC

10447656_10204038305664655_3514062275315773297_nAnother solid two weeks training done and dusted and I’m now just 10days out from the Gold Coast half marathon. I have also just raced a 5000m TT down in the Shire assisting Eloise Wellings and Emily Brichacek as they are about to head off to race the 5000m in Glasgow. I was pleased to take on a couple of laps pacing duties mid race but could not quite hold on for the win as both girls, obviously in great shape, pulled away towards the end unfortunately taking Tom Highnam with them. My 15:35 result was spot on what I predicted for myself realistically and slightly slower than I was actually hoping for. Still it’s the fastest I’ve run over the distance for a few years.

I’m still hoping to run around the 71min mark for the Gold Coast half and I feel this is also a realistic target. Another main goal is to beat my training mate John ‘Barts’ Bartlett who is currently cramming in a return to fitness after a few weeks off last month. He ran home strong tonight for a 15:38.

The other positive news is that my toes are feeling better by the week. I haven’t taken any anti inflams for a few weeks and they are not hurting as much as last month. Given a few more months and I’m hoping to be completely pain free. Wow it’s been a long road back for them.
