Break the Training Silence
Sennheiser CX685 Sports Headphones
With just about everyone on the planet owning an iPod or some other form of MP3 player, it’s no wonder so many people exercise with their favourite motivational tunes pumping away in their ears. Nothing beats going for a run and having great tunes to keep you fired up as you toil away! But it’s tough to find comfortable ear canal headphones that produce great sound and can withstand the rigours of sweat and constant pulling on the cables that always happens when you’re exercising. I for sure have gone through countless sets of ‘sports’ headphones that have fallen victim to what I would consider fairly reasonable wear. So when we got our hands on this pair, our expectations were high. Why? Well for starters they are made by Sennheiser, in collaboration with Adidas, so you’ve got a world leader in audio gear joining forces with an equally highly regarded producer of quality sports apparel. Then there’s the $99 RRP, which sits in the upper end of the ear-canal headphone market.
First impressions are that they look amazing. The design means they suit even the most fashion conscious trainers among you, and no matter what size or shape your ear is, the different sized buds and adjustable arms have everyone covered. In terms of comfort, they’re fantastic. The soft rubber sits perfectly inside your ear and apart from blocking out any external noise, they sit snuggly even when you’re making that final sprint home. Next is the most important thing: how do they sound? It’s here that they excel. The audio quality from such tiny headphones is mind-blowing! The base reverberates in your ears and the high pitches are crisp and clear without getting that tinnie sound. In all, it’s hard to fault these headphones. They look, sound and feel incredible and even when you’re not training, they make great headphones for everyday use….even as noise reducing ones for inflight.
